Happy Friday, friends!

If you love phone cases and laptop skins like I do, you are going to love today’s post! CaseApp was kind enough to collaborate with me and I ordered two laptop skins for my MacBook Pro to spice it up. I also had the honor of hosting a giveaway on my Instagram last month with CaseApp, so if you missed out on that, make sure to follow my Instagram account so you will stay updated on when I post new giveaways!

The ordering process was really simple and if I had any problems, my PR rep Tobias was there to help me. There are a lot of skins to choose from for different laptop sizes that are all stylish and modern. If you have a phone that fits one of their case sizes, you will find a phone case or skin that you love! My phone is an odd model so there weren’t any case sizes that would fit it, thus my choice in ordering two laptop skins.

When I was getting ready to order everything, I had 5 favorites that I couldn’t make my mind up on. A lot of “but this one is so gorgeous, too!” later, I narrowed things down to my top two favorite designs. YOLO Vivianne and Spring Flowers are my two favorite designs and they fit my personal style so well.

Spring Flowers is so gorgeous and caught my eye immediately! I love the detail the little strawberries add to it and the pastel colors are beautiful.

CaseApp ships worldwide and all of the MacBook Pro skins (US priced) are $29. Since this post is going up so late, the code I had for you guys that was on my Instagram has now expired. Beauty Serum Review | elDivine Beauty

I hope you all are having a great week and you had a great weekend. Today’s review is more skincare and I think you will love it. I had never tried serums before and they honestly scared me, but after trying the three serum set from elDivine Beauty. I was sent the retinol, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin C kit for free (as usual, disclaimer is below.). Let me start off with a big thank you to the elDivine Beauty team for working with me! Everyone in communication has been incredibly nice and helpful whenever I had questions.

The serum that I used the most is the Hyaluronic acid to help with my dry skin and giving my skin a glow. At night, I would sometimes add the retinol into my routine. The vitamin c serum is great in the mornings for a fresh glow! I did notice that my skin glowed really nicely when I was consistently using the serums and once I stopped using them, my skin dulled a bit. The kit is great if you are looking to add an extra step into your skincare routine and to achieve a healthy glow. Unfortunately, I failed to document my results of before and after, but I guarantee you that my skin was glowing!

All three of the serums came in the elDivine Beauty Anti-Aging and Skin Rejuvenating kit that is $19.99 on Amazon. For the low price point, the serums are very much worth it. You don’t need to break the bank to get a glow!

Best Skincare: Berber’s Treat

I love trying to find the best skincare and it is so difficult sometimes to find a product that works! Today’s post is all about the Black Eucalyptus Gel and Kessa exfoliating glove from Berber’s Treat. You may have heard about Berber’s Treat before from InStyle magazine or through Kylie Minogue, as she raves about the Black Eucalyptus Gel! Berber’s Treat is a great brand and I am so happy that they sent me these two products!

Let’s start off with some facts! The Black Eucalyptus Gel is 100% natural! It only has  three ingredients: Pure Olive Oil, Potash, and Eucalyptus essential oils. The gel is free of parabens and additives, and I don’t know about you, but that makes me extremely happy! Knowing exactly what is in my beauty and skincare products is important to me and the Black Eucalyptus Gel is making my switch over to natural products so much easier. A few more factoids about this gel: it’s cruelty-free, great for all skin types, it is nourishing and moisturizing, and it refreshes skin to make a beautiful glow.

I use the Black Eucalyptus Gel with the Berber’s Treat Exfoliating Glove that they sent along with it and the combination is phenomenal! The first time I used them, I exfoliated with the gel and glove before I shaved my legs and let me tell you, that is the absolute best shave that I have ever had! My legs were smooth and soft for twice as long as they typically are when I shave. The gel and glove are amazing together and you need them in your life. I have never preached about a product like I have preached about these!

Neocell Beauty Supplement Review | PR

Hi, friends, and happy Thursday!

If you have been here for a while, you know I love beauty supplements and skincare things. When Jean from Neocell asked me if I would like to try two supplements, I jumped on it and said YES. I was sent the Neocell beauty chews and the Neocell Glow Matrix capsules.

The beauty chews claim to help grow your hair, skin, and nails, as well as firming your skin and giving it a glow. I was so excited to try them out because I have been trying to grow my hair out for a while now and regular biotin chews weren’t seeming to help. After a few weeks, I think my hair did grow faster and my nails definitely did! The collagen chews contain 5,000 MCG of biotin and vitamin C. The Neocell collagen chews are also non-GMO and gluten free! If you are looking at trying to grow your hair and nails quicker, it’s worth it to pick these chews up and try them out! I can’t guarantee that you will have results but I did and I didn’t think that I would.

The Glow Matrix capsules are really cool and I do think that they improved my skin! I stopped taking them recently and I have noticed a difference in the glow of my skin. Since I have stopped taking the capsules, my skin is looking a bit dull and my acne is popping up more again. The Glow Matrix capsules are designed to give your skin a glow from the inside out and they do! I am a skeptic when it comes to certain beauty supplements but these are a keeper for me. The only weird thing I noticed while taking the capsules is that it changed the color of my urine(TMI, sorry) for a few hours after I took the capsules. It isn’t a big deal and it isn’t harmful, but you might notice that if you take the Glow Matrix capsules. The same thing happened when I was taking Stress B-Complex supplements. I 100% recommend these capsules to get a summer glow!

Conserving & Living Cleaner

If you haven’t seen on my Instagram lately, I’m starting something new and fun that I have wanted to do for a while now and I think now is the time to do it! Conservation is something I have always cared about and it is something that we can all do. It sounds daunting and believe me, I thought it was too! An easy thing to remember is that conserving starts at home. It is a great step to take and you will feel great because you have made the decision to live a little greener and you are helping eliminate waste! Recycling is a great key in conservation, so let’s start there!

Think of a few things that you may use daily: plastic straws, cotton rounds, a plastic toothbrush. Those are things that I use almost daily and there are products that I can replace them with that aren’t as harsh on the environment. This month(or in the next month, depending on how that works out) I plan on switching over to a bamboo toothbrush that is biodegradable, buying stainless steel reusable straws, and getting a big pack of reusable, washable cotton cloth rounds. Another great thing to do is to buy reusable grocery bags and take them with you when you go shopping. I have two of them right now and I need to stock up on them. Any plastic bags that I do get from the store go back to them so they can be recycled. Replacing those items are really affordable and very simple to do! Etsy is my go-to for all of these and I will put links in the bottom of the post!

If you are like me and you buy a water bottle almost every time you go to the store (hi, Oklahoma hot summers. I’m looking at you!), then a good idea to replace those plastic bottles is to buy a filtered water bottle that is reusable. Brita has a lot of bottles to choose from and the basic blue one is under $10! Note: you will have to buy replacement filters every two months (or after 40 gallons). I plan on buying one of these the next time I go to the store! Where I live, there aren’t any recycling centers to go to. It is a problem, but there are a few solutions to recycling if you don’t have a recycle center!

  1. Find out if you local grocery store (Walmart or Target, mainly) has a spot to put recycled items! The Walmart near me has bins to recycle plastic bags, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans.
  2. For aluminum cans, see if there is a salvage center near you. I take my crushed aluminum cans to my local salvage center and I get money back from the soda cans!
  3. Save all of your recycled items and then take them with you when you go to a bigger city!

After seeing someone pull out a plastic straw out of sea turtle’s nose, I don’t like using plastic straws. They go in the trash and for a lot of people (myself included), there is no afterthought of what happens after the garbage man picks it up. By using stainless steel reusable straws, I don’t have to worry about using plastic straws. They are also really affordable to use! Again, check Etsy! Buying there supports smaller shops and there are so many great products on there!

If you want another great way to support conservation efforts, go online and look at shops that sell products and donate proceeds to charities! Pura Vida is one of my favorite brands that gives back and you can buy bracelets that are part of their charity collection and part of your payment goes towards charity. I recently purchased a bracelet that helps donate money to saving sea turtles. I can’t go physically help with sea turtle conservation (and believe me, I have looked!) but I can help by donating! It may not seem like a lot, but every bit helps! Once my Pura Vida order comes in, I will be doing a post on the two bracelets and the anklet I got and what charities they will be helping!

This is going to be a new theme to Glitz and Glitter, especially on my Instagram. I think more awareness needs to be brought to conservation and recycling, and we can all do our part! I’m also going to put links to different resources down below so you can know more!

Bright Eyes, Thick Thighs

Bright eyes? Yes, please! If you are looking for the best thing for making your eyes bright and feeling great, I have the thing for you. Does this give off any Stefon from SNL vibes? I hope so! Granted, we don’t have any Human Kites, Human Parking Cones, or Human DVRS, but I do have a tip on how to get brightened under eyes and it begins with the VII Code Oxygen Masks!

I was sent the VII Code Oxygen Masks that are meant to brighten and hydrate your under eyes and make them feel like new. One of the things that I love about these masks is that they can be worn for up to 8 hours (or 2-4 if you don’t have the time for 8 hours!) and the gel pads mean that they don’t slide off of your face. I roll around a lot in my sleep and one of the pads actually stayed on my face in the 8 hours that I slept. And yes, you read that correctly. One pad somehow ended up coming off of my face and stuck to a pillow. It took me a while to find it the next morning when I woke up in a state of confusion!

Best Masks Ever?

The gel also has a cooling effect so it really is a treatment for your eyes. The masks can also be placed in the fridge to get an extra boost of cooling, which will brighten and will help with any puffiness! Another trick that I use to help with eye puffiness is taking two spoons and putting them on my under eyes for a little bit. The coolness is so refreshing and my eyes feel so much better after using it. The masks additionally smell amazing! It reminds me of a face powder I used to use and I love it.

The masks feel great and they fit my eye shape perfectly. Some masks are so uncomfortable to wear but the VII Code Oxygen Masks contour to your eye shape.  The gel also makes these masks special because the gel is the key to softening your skin and making you eyes look younger and rejuvenated. The fine lines and wrinkles in your skin under your eyes are also going to look better and tighter, so these Oxygen Masks really do so much for your skin. And did I mention that they smell amazing? Because they smell so good!

The masks retail for $55 and you get 6 gel eye masks in a pack. I use the masks one to two times per week or when I have an event to go to the next day. If I don’t have 8 hours where I can wear the masks, I will just wear them for around 3 hours and it still helps my eyes look brighter!

VII Code also has eye masks for dark circles (which I need!) and a special oxygen eye cream. Their focus with providing oxygen to the skin has helped them create a targeted skincare line that helps people maintain a glowing complexion and have hydrated and younger-looking skin.

Moms..they give us hugs, teach us how to be strong women, and they are the ones who bring us into the world. There are so many things that make a woman a mother, and sometimes they don’t need to have a baby to be a mom. A mom is someone who nurtures others, helps them grow, and stands as a mother figure. Mother’s Day is about celebrating our mothers and the women who are in our lives who have helped us grow and have been our role models.

My mom has been with me through every step of my life. She taught me how to wink, she taught me how to speak Spanish, and most of all, my mom taught me how to love and be kind. She taught me how to hold my head up when others tried to tear me down. My mom never told me to be like anyone else, just to be myself. Her constant support is always with me and her arms are always open for a hug. She is wisdom and strength. I love her so deeply and she is my best friend. As I have gotten older, our relationship has grown deeper and I am so thankful to have her in my life.

My grandma, who is my Nana Cookie, is my sass and sophistication. I get my fashion, class, and spice from her. She is grace and my abuela. When my mom laughs, it’s like my Nana Cookie is there too. Her laugh, her smile, her beauty. These two women have taught me so much in life. Lessons that can never be forgotten and will always be passed down.

My aunt Lisa has taught me so much. She is peace, the calm before the storm. Her eyes are always twinkling with laughter and a secret mischief. Her nature is gentle and she is always ready to lend a helping hand or volunteer her time to someone. She has been with me at my lowest and told be that it will be okay, and she was right. Like my mom, she has taught me to love even when it can be difficult to. Her laugh is like music and she is always ready to listen to a story or a stupid joke.

To the strong women in my life who have inspired me and loved me, thank you. You will never know how much your influences have helped me grow in life and I hope that I make you proud. I can never repay you for everything you have done for me, but I will constantly try.

This Mother’s Day, I encourage you to thank the mother figures in your life. Tell them that you love them, appreciate them, and they inspire you daily. Let them know that you care about them and let’s celebrate all of the strong women in our lives!

Brain Break + Updates

Hey, friends!

This post is long overdue and I have been really nervous to post about it. This past month or so, I have been in a slump and had zero inspiration.  When I first started Glitz and Glitter, I was blogging for me and then it became something bigger than I ever expected. I started thinking of the numbers, looking at the stats, and being disappointed when I didn’t get as many views as I had expected.  Instagram became harder and harder to get interaction on and it was (still is) so disappointing to go on Instagram and see an account where there would be blank white photo slots that had more likes than photos I took time to work on. Other influencers I follow also took time for their photos and they suffered too. It became a disappointment to even open the app.

I let the numbers get to me instead of blogging for fun and I needed a break.  In honesty, the numbers still bother me and they probably will until I no longer allow them to. I forget that I have people who follow Glitz and Glitter and interact with me and I love them. I keep thinking of numbers, how to get more views, more likes, etc. It kills the happiness I once had about blogging and I am trying to change that. So for now, Glitz and Glitter is going to be fun, or how I see fun. The posts are going to be things that I want to post and if they don’t get a lot of views, okay. It won’t ruin my life and I won’t let it ruin my day.

I needed time to get into a better mindset or even admit that I needed a break from it. Trying to stay on a one-post-a-week schedule wasn’t working and I was forcing it. It became monotonous. Starting in this season of life and of change, I’m shaking it up. The posts will be up when they go up (probably one every 2 weeks-ish), I’ll still be active on all of my social medias, and I’m still here, but Glitz and Glitter is going under some planning!

I hope you will stay with me on this journey and talk to me on social media! I truly see you guys as my friends, so contact me! Tweet me, send me funny stuff- it makes my day!

The Best Lingerie for Plus Size Women

Hi, friends! Happy Monday!

As a plus size woman, finding bras, panties, and other lingerie items can be difficult. Some stores don’t always carry our bra size and if they do, the quality isn’t always the best. I’ve been to Wal-Mart, Victoria’s Secret, and other easy stores where they sell bras and underwear and it is rather disappointing in selection. If you need a bra toot-sweet and on the cheaper side, I typically go to Wal-Mart. Sometimes the quality isn’t the best, but I know the bra will support enough to get me through…if the bra cup isn’t punched in, that is. Victoria’s Secret is lovely and I feel like a queen in the store, but they don’t carry my bra size.

For me, when my lingerie set matches, I feel confident, sexy, and empowered. I don’t know if that happens to other women (my girlfriends say it does!) but it does for me! I’ve gone through a lot of stores since I first needed to buy a bra and I have one store that tops the list and I have spent a lot of money at!

Cacique by Lane Bryant is my go to store for intimates and apparel. Their dedication to plus size women who value fashion is superb and you can wear their clothes with pride. Unlike other stores that have clothes with fabrics that look like they came from your stereotypical grandma’s house (I’m looking at you, Catherine’s! Also, I’m not paying $50 for a clearance t-shirt dress, thanks!), Lane Bryant has beautiful and trendy style for decent prices. Shoes, jewelry, perfume, sunglasses, they have everything you need to look stylish and feel confident. I have been plus size forever and even with having lost weight, I still lack confidence. I can’t tell you the difference a great set of lingerie can make you feel!

I wear a size 44DD in bras and it is a blessing that is also a curse. Not only are bras my size harder to find, but they are also a bit more expensive than most. Bras at Cacique sell for around $40 and they often have sales so you pay less than that! I went in after Christmas and bought 4 bras for around $90. That sounds like a lot (my bank account would agree!) but the quality makes the price worth it. Cacique’s bras last for a really long time, too!

A lot of bras for plus size ladies can look a bit dull and not entirely sexy. I love bras that are comfortable and make me look and feel incredible. Cacique has bras that will suit everyone and the styles are so diverse.

Feeling great and looking great is a huge part of body confidence for me and that doesn’t mean losing weight, gaining weight, etc. You can look great by putting on your favorite outfit and feeling like Wonder Woman.

This post honestly isn’t an add for Cacique or Lane Bryant- I just love their bras! I also wanted to show you guys that bras can be fun and not be a pain. Wearing bras, or any lingerie, can truly make you feel confident and fierce- even if no one else knows you are wearing it!

In February, I was contacted by Bolzano Handbags PR about sending me a purse to review for their just recently launched monthly subscription box. Of course, I said yes! The absolutely lovely Leylani was my customer service representative and she is a dream to work with. She made the process so easy!

I was sent the Alisse Messenger bag in brown and let me tell ya, I love it! Generally I am not a fan of messenger style bags because I find that they don’t have enough space to carry around all of the things I need. However, having a messenger bag has really helped me realize what I actually need and I do have enough space.

The purse strap measures 44 inches and it is adjustable so you can get the perfect fit. There’s also a lock and key on the purse so you can keep your wallet, keys, and everything else secure. When the purse is unlocked, just pinch together the buttons on the front and your purse will open. I personally love it for the rodeo and fair seasons that are coming up! I wish I had this purse a few years ago when I was at the Tulsa State Fair!

The purse is made from cowhide, so it is real leather. Bolzano also has handbags that are made from lambskin and cowhide/lambskin combination. If you are thinking about ordering an item from Bolzano but do not want to purchase a purse or wallet that is made from animal skin, they do have options that are fabrics. If you would prefer to shop from a brand that avoids using animal hides, Bolzano isn’t the brand for you, sadly. However, there are a lot of other amazing brands that are cruelty free!

The quality of this purse is so great and it is really sturdy, making it perfect for me! The Alisse messenger bag retails for $148.
