Fall Inspired Makeup Looks

fall makeup looks banner

Hello, babes!

I am so excited for this post because 1) it is in collaboration with the absolutely amazing Bella and 2) it’s all about fall!  Today (September 29th, as I write this) is so gorgeous and it is finally starting to feel like fall! Yesterday was the first day in a very long time that I was able to wear jeans and boots comfortably!

Bella and I started talking about this collaboration a while ago and it was actually supposed to be published a few weeks ago, but things got really hectic and it is just now coming out. Thank you so much for being so understand, Bella babe! Muah!

One of my go-to looks for fall is a brown/nude eye with simple face makeup and a nude lip. It’s very easy and since I stopped wearing foundation,  I have knocked off some time from my makeup routine.

20170929_141145.png

I don’t have any specific colors or palettes that I used for this look.  You can just take whatever light cremes, browns, and one or two slightly darker shades, blend them all together, and there you have it! I used the L.A. Colors Chunky Lip crayon in the shade “Warm Caramel” but any nude lip shade that you prefer will work just as well! I am all about nude lipsticks and this one was the one that I grabbed. All I did for the face makeup was use some concealer, powder, contour, and highlight.  Again, I have stopped using foundation, but if you use it, that’s fine! It is up to you!

20170929_141124.png

The next look is the same eye but with lighter shades and an orange lip.  As I am sure you can already tell, I tend to go for a more natural makeup look, so the majority of these makeup looks are quite minimalistic.  The lip color is Maybelline’s Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid in “Orange Obsession”. I am absolutely obsessed with it!

20170929_135529.jpg

The third and final look is a dark brown eye with a bit of black eyeshadow blended in to smoke it out.  It is way more pigmented in person than it is in the photo (and I just got a new phone and the camera is not the best in the world). For this look I used the Ulta eyeshadows in Smoke and Soul and the shades “Color 1” and “Color 10”  in the Wet N Wild Au Naturel palette.  “Color 1” is a basic creme shade and “Color 10” is the black shadow.  Any brand will work!

I purchased an eyeshadow palette earlier this month that I was going to use specifically for this collaboration but the colors were not pigmented and it wasn’t working well at all, so these are the three basic fall looks that I go for. The last one is definitely the most dramatic out of the 3.

I hope you enjoyed this post and don’t forget to check out Bella’s post over at her blog!

Coming up next week is Blogtober!! I have the entire month planned out with 4 blogger collabs and a few other festive posts, so make sure to check back in!

I hope you have an absolutely fabulous weekend!

Essence & Makeup Revolution review | Recent Ulta Buy

Ulta Purchase banner

Hello, babes!

We are so so close to fall and I am already feeling the fall vibes! I’ve been trying new makeup looks for a fall collaboration coming soon and I am so excited to show it to you guys! It will be out sometime this month, so be on the lookout for that! Also: I am going to be doing a small Blogmas series in December and I am already have a few ideas going for that! There is already one collaboration planned out for that, BUT I am looking for more bloggers to collaborate with! If you would like to collaborate with me for a Blogmas post that is all things festive and glitzy, please leave a comment below with your information or send me an email at glitzandglitterblog@gmail.com! I would love to work with you!

Okay, now that the announcements are out of the way, let’s jump into the reviews!

I went to Ulta this past Thursday and I was looking for a few things that were affordable and good quality. Granted I have never tried any products from Essence before now, so I had no clue if their products were great, but when I saw the display and how affordable the products were, I knew I had to give them a try! I picked out the Essence Cover Stick in “10 Matt Naturelle” and the gel nail polish in “53 Rock My World”. The cover stick was around $3 and the nail polish was $2, so they are really affordable!

The cover stick is fantastic! I was in desperate need of a good concealer and while I am not really a huge fan of concealer sticks, this one is one of my favorites now. It has great coverage without feeling super heavy and it is buildable. I just put some on my under eyes, nose, chin, and some on my forehead and blend out for great coverage and a good look. I don’t wear foundation much anymore, so a good concealer is great for me. Essence has done a marvelous job! The formula is really creamy and smooth, not streaky or too thick.

The nail polish is a dark grey/charcoal color that I am now in love with. I do recommend using two coats and not just one, like I did. It does cover really nicely, but there are a few streaky spots. If you are in a rush and only have time for one coat, be generous and you’ll do fine!

26749408_unknown

Next up is the Lip Amplification lip gloss from Makeup Revolution! The Makeup Revolution glosses were on sale for $2.49 that day, so I figured I should pick one up! I purchased the shade “Conviction” and while it looks like a dark brown in the package, it is actually a dark berry shade. When you build it up, it almost looks brown/black, but I rather like it. The formula is pretty good and it goes on smoothly. I had to apply it twice to make sure I had an even look and zero streaks. I’m a big fan of Makeup Revolution and I loved this gloss!

All of the products are absolutely awesome and I hope you check them out the next time you are at Ulta!

Have a great weekend, my loves! Don’t forget to smile and take your fabulous sass wherever you go!

Wet N Wild lipstick haul

Hi babies!

Today’s post is something that I’ve wanted to put together for a while. I love lipstick and I have collected a decent lot of it over the past two years. Most of the lipsticks I own are from the cruelty-free drugstore brand Wet N Wild, so today’s post is a haul of all of my WNW lipsticks!

I’m going to start out with the deepest colors and then work my way to the lightest!

2014-03-02_15-59-41

So I thought I had two different brown colors but turns out that they are the exact same color, but one label is lighter than the other. 533D is the shade “Cashmere” and it is a dark chocolate color that is ready for fall! It has a sheen and gloss to it, so beware that it is not matte! Regardless, “Cashmere” is one of my favorite lipsticks from Wet N Wild.

2014-03-02_15-59-02

535 D is “Black Orchid” and it holds a very dear place in my heart. I love dark red colors and “Black Orchid” is one of my favorite deep red wine shades. It is my favorite evening lipstick and for $1, this lipstick will always be in my collection.

2014-03-02_16-00-02

536A “Dark Wine” is just a shade lighter than “Black Orchid”. It has a great berry vibe to it and I am so ready to pair it with a plum eyeshadow look for this fall season! I can see it now: Dark Wine, a lovely plum smokey eye, and sharp wings!

2014-03-02_15-58-37

The next shade is 538A, a shimmery red called “Just Garnet”. I love this lipstick for winter and around Christmas! It is part of my reds collection and it will stay there forever!

2014-03-02_15-59-162014-03-02_15-58-19

The only two pink shades I have in my lipstick collection, Wet N Wild or other, are 504 “Pink Ice” and 501 “A Short Affair”. I don’t wear “Pink Ice” too terribly often because it looks like a Barbie pink and that isn’t really my favorite shade to wear, but it is a nice lipstick! “A Short Affair” is definitely more sheer than any other lipsticks that I own. It is my favorite lipstick to wear when I want to go for a more natural look and the lightest touch of pink adds a bit of flair to my lips.

In total, I have 6 Wet N Wild lipsticks so far and I plan on buying at least two more this month, so the collection is just getting bigger and bigger!

Have you tried out any of Wet N Wild’s lipsticks? What is your favorite shade? Let me know in the comments below! I’m also on the lookout for a new red product, so give me some suggestions!

I hope you have a fabulous weekend and don’t forget to smile!

Perfectly Posh Review

Hello everyone and welcome back to Glitz & Glitter!

Last week I was sent a package of samples from Perfectly Posh and I took the week to try them out! The absolutely lovely Brandy from Perfectly Posh sent me the products and she has been an absolute dream to work with! All of her links will be below and there are a few deals for you guys, too! Stick around to the end to see them!

img_3260
Top Row: (black circle containers) Apricots Overnight, Honey Honey lotion, Rio scrub, Dive In Chunk Bath Bar, Gender Bender Chunk Bath Bar. Bottom Row: Night & Day facial moisturizer, Pineapple Pick Me Up face mask, Skindelicious Snarky Butter, Bare It All Micellar Tonic, Rico Guave Chunk Bath Bar, Field Better Soon Chunk Bath Bar.

I was so excited to try out these products that I took pictures of them right after I opened the package! When I took a shower a few hours later, I tried out using the Chunk Dive In bath bar. It has been a week later and I am still using it! I love this soap bar so much and I feel super clean after using it in the shower. The product description says “This sea spray and musky amber bath bar moisturizes skin with argan oil and algae extract, while kaolin gives you  a deep clean.” Dive In is definitely one of my favorite products from the bundle of samples that I was sent!

After I got out of the shower, I washed my face and tried out the Pineapple Pick Me Up face mask and the Night & Day Natural Facial Moisturizer. The mask is packed with pineapple scent and made me feel like I should have been sitting on the patio of a paradise resort! Ten minutes later, I washed off the mask and applied the Night & Day moisturizer. The moisturizer smells amazing and reminds me of something medicinal in a natural way, if that makes any sense. The moisturizer has organic olive oil, lavender, and aloe vera, and I love the way they combine. Both of the products I adored and I will certainly use again!

I used the Rio scrub and the Snarky Butter products together and my hands have never been so soft! This product combo will be absolutely amazing in the winter time to keep your hands super soft and supple!

img_3258
L to R: Apricots Overnight, Honey Honey, Rio scrub.

Honey Honey lotion smells so good! I just put some on, actually. Honey Honey reminds me of two things: lemon (yellow) Starbursts and Chuck from Pushing Daisies. It is sweet, citrusy, and the best summer scent! It is staying on my desk until I run out of it!

Apricots Overnight….what can I say about this product other than it is my favorite and I am so heartbroken that I used up almost all of it! Apricots Overnight smells so good and I can’t get enough of it! I truly think that my skin has improved after using this product, too, so that is a major plus! You are supposed to apply Apricots Overnight and let the moisturizing mask do its work so you will wake up with soft skin, and it works! I love this product and I plan on buying the full size product soon!

The Bare It All micellar tonic was the first micellar water type product that I had ever used. What I loved the most about this product is that I could just apply it to a cotton ball and swipe it over my face to cleanse and remove makeup, and that was it! No washing or extra cleanser required! If you are a busy and on-the-go kind of person, this product is great for you!

Gender Bender is another one of my favorites! I have used this for the past two days in the shower and I can’t get enough of it! “Detoxing charcoal gives you a deep clean. Plus palm oil and shea butter leave your skin soft with a citrus and woodsy amber scent.” Gender Bender is great for guys or gals. The woodsy scent is masculine but the citrus scent adds hints of femininity, creating the perfect blend. I have always loved cologne and other masculine directed body washes, so Gender Bender quickly became one of my favorites!

Field Better Soon is a lovely lavender soap that I have actually been using to wash my face in the morning and at night. It’s light and summery scent is great for my face and it isn’t drying, so I have had no problems with using it as a face wash. I do recommend using a moisturizer afterward so your skin is perfectly soft!

Rico Guave is a tropical beach party in a bar of soap! It’s fun and summertime scent is absolutely glorious and I can’t get enough of it! The collection of Chunk Bath Bars I was sent are all amazing and I hope you give them a try!

I can’t wait for the fall/winter collection to arrive! Perfectly Posh is a great company and with friendly representatives like Brandy, you won’t want to stay away from their products!

My Favorite E.L.F. Products!

Hello, loves!

One of my favorite drugstore brands that is affordable and cruelty-free is E.L.F. (eyes, lips, face). They have a lot of wonderful products and today I am sharing my favorites with you!

There won't be any foundations, concealers, or powders because they don't carry my shade. I'm too pale for all of the lightest colors!

img_3279

Just recently, I purchased the E.L.F. baked highlighter in Moonlight Pearls and all I have to say is "WOW!". The highlight is buildable, has a great glow, and is really soft on the skin. The highlighter takes a while to build up when using a brush, so when I'm in a rush, I will literally just swipe the highlighter right onto my cheekbones and blend it with my fingertips. That probably isn't a great technique, but it works in a pinch!

26478640_unknown

The E.L.F. HD Cream Blush in "Superstar" is so pigmented! (Any Mannyacs out there? 😉 ) You just need a small dot of the product and it goes a long way! I use my beauty sponge to blend it out onto the apples of my cheeks to get a natural rosy glow.

The E.L.F. Matte Lip Colors are some of my favorite lip products that I have ever purchased! They are all creamy and rich formulas with a lot of color! I have three (a red and two nude colors) of their Matte Lip Colors and I live for all three of them! My current favorite is the shade Natural, a nude pink color.

For my lips, I love the Mint Maniac exfoliator to get my lips scrubbed and fresh! Two of my favorite moisturizing lipsticks from E.L.F. are the shades Berry Black and Ravishing Rose. Both shades are darker colors and I absolutely love them. I can't wait for fall to get here so I can wear these lipsticks with scarves, leggings, and cozy sweaters! A helpful hint: on the bottom of every E.L.F. lip product that comes in a lipstick tube (this includes the exfoliators, which I just found out a moment ago!) is a lip balm! If you pop out the little clear square bottom, there is a bit of lip balm! For the lipsticks, it is the shade of your lipstick and for the exoliators, it is clear!

Cool, right?!

Another E.L.F. product that I love is the Gotta Glow Lip Tint (not pictured) in the shade Perfect Pink. The lip tint is supposed to work with your lip chemistry to get the perfect shade for you! On my lips, this product comes out as a Barbie doll hot pink, so I use this product when I want a pop of pink!

Onto the eyes and eyebrows!

26478032_unknown

The Intense Ink Eyeliner was part of my most recent E.L.F. purchase. The precision tip makes flicking out a winged liner simple and clean! If you are in need of a good eyeliner, I would give this a try!

26478688_unknown

For my brows, I use the E.L.F. gel pomade and powder duo (I use the shade Medium), the E.L.F. small angled brush, the clear brow gel and mascara duo, and a small artist brush that I have. On days where I don't feel like messing around with the gel pomade, I will simply take the small artist brush and use the powder to fill in my brows after running a spooly brush through them. I then set my brows with the clear eyebrow gel. It is an easy look that works with natural makeup or just to make your brows more noticeable for a no-makeup kind of day.

Next up: Brushes!

Some of my favorite makeup brushes are from E.L.F.! They are affordable, good quality brushes that last!

26478592_unknown-1

The Beautifully Bare Blending Brush is used a lot in my makeup routine, mainly for blending out contour and bronzing powders. The brush is super soft and blends out makeup beautifully (surprise, surprise!).

The two brushes I use for contour and bronzer are the E.L.F. bronzing brush and the E.L.F. Professional Fan Brush (I use it to contour my nose). The bronzing brush really carves out my cheeks and applies the contour powder evenly.

I use a lot of E.L.F. brushes when I work with eyeshadow! The flat Eyeshadow Brush works well for packing shadows onto the eyelid and it is a staple in my eyeshadow brush collection.

The small Blending Eye Brush and the Professional Eye Defining Brush are two of my favorite makeup brushes! The blending brush blends out eyeshadow seamlessly and the eye defining brush fits into the crease of the eyelid to define (I am so original) and cut your crease! Both were around $1, so if you come across these brushes, buy them!

Other small brushes from E.L.F. that I love are the Lip Defining Brush (which I have honestly never used on my lips! I use it on my eyes and it would work really well for smoking out your lower lashes!), the Concealer Brush (for highlighting eyebrows), and the Small Angled Brush (I use it for my brows).

I have used E.L.F. face primers before and in my experiences, they worked pretty well. Their foundation was also really good. I actually wore it for around a year before realizing that the shade Porcelain was, indeed, much too tan for me!

I hope you guys enjoyed my E.L.F. favorites! Like I said before, E.L.F. is a cruelty-free drugstore brand that sells affordable products and I highly recommend that you try out their brand!

There is going to be a new post on Saturday, August 12th: a review for Perfectly Posh products!

Make sure to follow me on Instagram, Twitter, and check me out on Pinterest!

I hope you have an amazing week!

How To Get Fabulous Feet

img_3132

Hi there! Thank you so much for checking out my blog! I truly appreciate it and I hope you enjoy!

For the longest time, my feet were pretty rough looking because I go barefoot all the time when I am at home. I wear sandals or flip flops when I go out, so earlier this year, I looked at my heels while I was out and I didn’t like how they looked. My feet were dry and needed to be pampered. A couple of days and a few dollars later, I had a two sided foot file and I was ready to tackle my feet. On one side of the file, you had a metal grater and then on the other side was a regular file. The only problem with this was after the first time I used it, the metal side (which came off so you could empty the catch) never fit back into place after I took it off to empty out the bottom. Anytime I used it, I would have to hold on to the metal part so it would stay on. The metal grate was not easy to clean at all, so it stopped working efficiently. I stopped using the foot file and it sat abandoned in a crate of other random products in my bathroom.

A few weeks ago, I went to the store and purchased a new foot file and a foot scrub in hopes of getting nice feet again. I bought the Freeman “Bare Foot” Exfoliating Foot Scrub in the scent Peppermint and Plum (smells amazing!) and a new sugar foot file from ONYX Professional. Let me tell you, these products together are amazing! The file takes all of the dead skin away and the scrub helps soften everything up!

Here is how to get your feet into tip top shape again!

  • First I like to soak my feet in some warm water and body wash. My current fave is Rosé Champagne body wash from Bath and Body Works- smells so good and makes me feel refreshed and kind of feminine! Then I will take a little of the Freeman “Bare Foot” scrub and massage that all over my feet.
  • Second, I pat dry my feet with a clean towel and then I use the ONYX Professional sugar foot file on my heel, around the sides, the ball of my foot, and on any callouses that are on my feet. Once that is done, I take a little water to wet my feet and then go back in with the Freeman “Bare Foot” scrub to remove any dead skin particles from the foot file.
  • After I scrub my feet again, I’ll pat them dry and then take some lotion and rub that all over my feet and ankles. I massage and rub my feet and get some of the lotion soaked in, then I take a pair of socks and put those on for a while.
  • A few hours later, I will grab whatever color of nail polish I like and give my toe nails a fresh coat of polish to add a touch of color to them. Since it is summer, I like vibrant pinks and blues, periwinkle, reds, and some nude shades.

There you go! Filing and scrubbing your feet really make them feel fresh and look nice. If you wear sandals, flip flops, or open toed shoes, I recommend that you try the steps above! Your feet will thank you!

Next week’s post is going to be all about self love, confidence, and how to love your body! I am so excited to upload next week, as it is a topic that I am truly passionate about!

Review: Gigi’s Beauty Haven

product review banner

Welcome back to Glitz and Glitter! Today’s review is over a few sample products from a fabulous company called Gigi’s Beauty Haven. The lovely Brittni sent me a packet of samples and I reviewed them over this past week.

(I apologize for the lack of photos! I totally forgot to take any after I opened the package and I got so excited that I tried out a few products immediately!)

img_3030

The first product that I tried was the Energy soap. The small bar of soap lasted me a long time, in fact, I still have some!  It smells really great and doesn’t dry out my skin, so major plus!

The lotion bar (“I Put a Spell On You”) is really great! It leaves a oily shine on the skin but it absorbs quickly, so there isn’t a lot of residue. I would use this product during the winter when I get dry skin and apply it to the back of my hands.

The Manchurian Dragon whipped body cream is a really light lotion that is moisturizing and smells awesome. It’s got a fruity and feminine scent to it and it would be perfect for spring.

The next product is the watermelon shower jelly. It has to be my favorite product that I received! It is a sweet watermelon scent that is exactly what I like in a summer type body wash or product. I had never used shower jelly before so I was quite surprised to use one. If you haven’t used shower jelly before, just imagine using Jello in the shower. It’s actually really fun to use!

Also in the packet was a mint sugar foot scrub (Pedi-Mint). If you are looking for a hard scrub, this isn’t the foot scrub for you. The minty scent is great and the scrub works well if you have just used a foot file and want a softer and more polished look. But if you just want to use a scrub and not a file, I don’t think this would work well for you. My tip is to use a foot file, then use this scrub, and then moisturize. That worked really well for me. Overall, I loved this product!

The only product that I was unable to try was the Black Magic fizzy bath soak. I only use my tub to shower in and the plug leaks, so I can’t really take baths, unfortunately. But the product smells amazing and I am sure that it would work wonders!

Gigi’s has also added a lot of new products to their shop, so go check out all of their awesome products! They are a cruelty free brand, made by hand, and 98-100% natural.

The website is linked below and Brittni’s social medias will be linked also. If you are wanting to order from them, order through Brittni! She is a wonder to work with. Tell her Mimi from Glitz and Glitter sent ya!

Gigi’s sells salves, shower jellies, bath products, lotions, shower steamers, and so many more amazing products, including jewelery! They have also added a ton of new products! I am definitely going to keep Gigi’s in mind the next time I am ordering products. They quality is superb and the prices are affordable. You can’t beat that!

Until next week!

My Relaxation Spa Routine

Spa Routine banner

Everyone needs to take a few hours every now and then to just treat themselves! That can be going out to dinner and having a fancy meal, staying in and watching movies, or simply having a spa night!

If you need a few ideas to have your own spa night, here is my routine!

I start off my relaxation spa routine by cleansing my face. The face cleanser/wash I use is  Anew Ultimate 7S from Avon, but you can also buy it from Amazon. It’s a really gentle cleanser but it makes your face feel fresh and it smells great!

After my face is good and clean, I’ll pull up my hair and put on a sheet mask! Sheet masks are great and I use one every week. If you are looking for a mask that gives your skin a radiant glow, I suggest the TonyMoly I’m Real Pearl Luminating Sheet Mask. All you have to do is put it on, wait, and then rub in the remaining gel onto your face! It gives your skin a healthy glow and it is really affordable!

tony moly

My favorite mask ever is the Rejuvenating Face Sheet Mask in Eucalyptus from Danielle Creations. I first came across this brand at Ross and I bought a box that had 5 masks for $5. At a dollar per face mask, I figured why not! This mask also smells amazing and my skin tingled a little while I was wearing it. 15 minutes later, I took off the mask and my skin felt amazing! It was a cooling mask and the tingles made my skin feel refreshed. I do recommend that you go to Ross and buy the pack from them. This 5 pack of face masks is $10 on Amazon and the quantity is limited, so your best bet is finding them at Ross.

facemask.jpeg

Once I’ve taken my face mask off, I like to put a little eye cream on my under eyes to give them a little pep. My go-to eye cream is the Burt’s Bees Sensitive Eye Cream because it doesn’t make my skin red or have a bad reaction. I trust the Burt’s Bees brand and their eye cream is amazing! If you are in need of a new and affordable eye cream, try one of theirs!

burtsbees

After my skin is hydrated and feeling fresh, I move on to my nails! Since summer is right around the corner, I like using bright colors and wearing them as beacons of summer vibes! My current nail color is “Pretty as a Pink-ture” by Morgan Taylor and it is a great summer color! The hot pink color is bold and makes your nails stand ouy among the crowd!

Find a fun summer color and paint away!

However you decide to relax, have fun and take that special time for you!
