Mystery Blogger Award

Hi there, babes!

I know it has been a while, or at least it seems like it to me. I’m trying to schedule two posts per week while I have the Glitz & Glitter Spotlight series running, so it would be one regular post and one GGS post. Today’s post is a regular one, as I am sure you can tell from the title!

Taiwo @ Stuffed Shelves nominated me for the Mystery Blogger Award and I am so thankful to her! I had hit a mini roadblock when it came to inspiration so hopefully this will kick me back into gear!

Here are the rules for the award:

  1. Put the award logo/image on your blog
  2. List the rules.
  3. Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  4. Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well
  5. Tell your readers 3 things about yourself
  6. You have to nominate 10 – 20 people
  7. Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog
  8. Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question (specify)
  9. Share a link to your best post(s)

If you haven’t heard of the Mystery Blogger Award, it is a special blogging award created by Okoto Enigma a few years ago and has been gracing the internet since then. The Mystery Blogger Award is another way to spread extra positivity on the www and make someone’s day!

Three things about me (you might already know all of them from previous posts)….hmm..

  1. I love music from the 70s and 80s- can’t get enough of it! If you catch me listening to music, it’s probably Fleetwood Mac, Hall and Oates, or Jim Croce. I can’t go a day without music and I carry 2 pairs of headphones with me at all times.
  2. I have a weird obsession with watching World’s Strictest Parents, Wife Swap, and My Strange Addiction. I find them fascinating and I always watch them before bed. Most of the time, my watch history is full of those videos. And TED talks!
  3. I’m trying to get back into artistic things, like water color painting again and sketching. A few months ago, I went out and bought painting supplies and I’m slowly getting back into it. I personally think I am awful, but I am trying not to get discouraged!

Taiwo has 5 questions for her nominees and I am answering them below!

  1. What is the best thing that has happened to you?
Gosh, I’m not sure! I think being accepted into college and knowing that I was in the next step to a great career was one of the best things that has happened so far.
  2. What do you do apart from blogging?
Apart from blogging, most of my life revolves around schoolwork. I am about to graduate into university life and I am technically already there, as I have 2 classes on campus already. I’m working on Film Appreciation and Freshman Composition II so I can get those classes out of the way before I am a full time college student.
  3. What’s your best season?
Hmm…summer or fall. I love the fall time because I adore sweaters, scarves, boots, and so many other fashion things that beautifully blend with fall.
  4. What does your dream life look like?
Okay, so this might be so basic but I truly would love to find myself happily married and with kids. In that life, I would love to blog full time or have a separate career and then blog part time. I want to live in a comfortable house where there is plenty of space inside and out that is near nature and open spaces. I really want kids, though. I can see myself with a house of ginger babies and I can teach them and take them to so many museums and raise little intellectuals!
  5. If you could be an animal, which would you be?
This is a difficult question! I do love mountain lions, also called cougars. They are so sleek and dangerous! Something about them is exciting but scary at the same time.

So that is all about me! It is time for nominations and I am tagging the bloggers here and via Twitter instead of commenting on their blogs. There are certain blogs where I am unable to comment on their websites, so that is why I am letting them know on there.

Blogs I am Loving banner

Happy Friday, my babes!

I am sure you have seen blog posts like this on other sites, but I am happy to finally be spreading some love and spotlight some blogs that I am really enjoying at the moment and I think you should follow.

Curly Hair Vegan

Briana encourages her readers to live a healthy life and she has so many great articles on food, lifestyle, and spirituality. She created CHV to encourage people to go back to the basics and shows just how easy it is to live a healthy lifestyle that is fulfilling, productive, and overall filled to the brim with positivity. Briana is one of my favorite bloggers and I always enjoy reading her blog posts. When I get an email update in the morning, I’ll typically open it and read the post first thing when I get up. A touch of positivity at the start of the day is always a good idea! Two lovely reads on Curly Hair Vegan that I had a splendid time reading are about oil pulling and the benefits when adding it into your routine and how to make scrumptious Buddha bowls.

Brighton The Day

photo owned by Brighton Keller, BTD

You have probably seen her pins floating around Pinterest in the most fashionable ways or looking great on Instagram while spreading such a great message, but if you haven’t, Brighton Keller is an incredible blogger who uses her platform for only good and positive. Her outreach is rather large and her Instagram stories really speak to her followers and they can relate to them. I love Brighton The Day because it is the one place I can go when I need a good bit of fashion advice, yummy recipes, a boost in my faith, or just a good laugh. Brighton is the kind of person who makes you feel like you have been friends for a long time and I love that about her. Two of my favorite posts on BTD are a list of Brighton’s fave Christian Podcasts and It’s Okay To Not Be Okay.

Elegant Living Everyday

Jennifer Lynn and I have been following each other on Twitter for a bit and we sometimes run into each other in the same circles, which is so fabulous because I love seeing fellow blogging ladies furthering their careers and interests. So what is her blog? Elegant Living Everyday. No, not just on date night or ladies night, but every single day. She takes you through a life’s journey to live beautifully all the time and always keeps things as real as can be. Jennifer’s blog will help restore elegance in your life and I love it. Two of my favorite posts are How To Begin Your Journey and What Does It Mean To Live an Elegant Life. Both will be great to help kickstart your elegant journey!

Tea and Maz

Mariam is a brilliant blogger and I am so in love with her blog! Tea and Maz focuses on mental health, lifestyle, inspiration, and books, all of which are part of living a wonderful and full life. Her website is absolutely beautiful and you also must follow her on Instagram! Mariam is a beautiful human being and I know you are going to love her as much as I do! Two of my favorite posts on her blog are 23 Things I’ve Learnt In 23 Years and her post on Daniel Wellington Watches (I love a good watch!)

Learning Lily

Lily is a beautiful soul who I originally met on Twitter, probably while going through a blogger chat or follow group. She is such a great person and I adore her. Her blog, Learning Lily, is all about travel, lifestyle, and fashion, 3 of my favorite things! Lily’s blog is absolutely stunning and I can’t wait to see more of her accomplishments in the coming year. Two of my faves are In What Ways Is Instaram Affecting Us and Reflecting on 2017. Check out her posts and leave her a comment!

The Pink Paperdoll

Abbie is the mastermind behind The Pink Paperdoll where all things lifestyle meet unique vintage and eco-friendly natural living. Her dog Perry makes occasional appearances and he is the cutest lil bean! I do love the overall feel of The Pink Paperdoll and it is such a cute blog. You can really tell Abbie has put time and hard work into everything she does. Good job, queen! Two of my favorite posts on PP are In Praise of Old Books and 4 Unique Places To See In South Dakota.

You may have seen on Twitter this past Monday that I asked for blogs to have in this post. I asked this for a few reasons. One, there are so many blogs out there that have yet to have exposure or views even if they are amazing, so I was hoping to get smaller blogs more views and deserved exposure. Second, because there are so many blogs out there, it can be hard to come across certain blogs and while some of these blogs have a bigger reach and follower base, that doesn’t mean they aren’t amazing. I also wanted to find more blogs that I would love and want in the Glitz and Glitter Spotlight!

To bloggers who responded to my tweet and your blog wasn’t featured in this post or the next ones, I apologize. Your blog is amazing and because I got such an overwhelming response, I am not able to have decent sized posts that don’t go too long, even with a second part coming next week. However, I do think all of the blogs are great and for those blogs who didn’t make the Spotlight, I am going to quote retweet the links you sent me and say what I liked about your blog.

I received and read through 77 blogs in one day and when I started out, I only expected to get 5 or so, if that. Seeing all of those blogs was incredible. There were book bloggers, lifestyle, beauty, fashion bloggers, mental health bloggers, and everything under the sun. You all expanded my views and touched my heart with some of your stories. You each deserve your own separate blog posts because you are so unique.

If you liked this post and can’t wait to see the next installment in the Glitz and Glitter Spotlight series, I would truly appreciate it if you shared this post. Not only will it help Glitz and Glitter, but it will help the bloggers featured.

Who is one of your favorite bloggers? Let me know in the comments!

I hope you have an absolutely fabulous Friday and a great weekend. I’ll keep you all updated as to when part two will be up next week, so make sure to follow me on Twitter to stay in the loop!

Lots of love and hugs!

Things I Learned From Christmas With the Kranks…

I love Christmas and all that it stands for. Some of our family traditions involve watching our favorite Christmas movies and my personal favorite is Christmas With the Kranks.

Today’s post is a blogger collab with Phy. She is writing about the same theme but with a different movie. Go check her post out!

Christmas With the Kranks is my favorite holiday film because I find it to teach a few things. Here are two incredibly important reasons why I love CWtK.

  • It shows the importance of thankfulness and saying “Thank You”.

In the film, Luther has a difficult time thanking everyone for their help in creating a picture perfect party last minute due to his daughter’s surprise visit. He knows that his attitude was unkind and saying a simple “thank you” was so incredibly humbling, he couldn’t find the heart to do it. “Thank you” was kind of like an apology.  Sometimes saying “Thank You” is hard, but is shows someone that you are truly appreciate of what they did for you.  Luther’s neighbors didn’t have to help him and Nora out.  They helped them because it was mainly for Blair.

  • Acceptance of others and their opinion.

After Nora and Luther tell everyone that they are skipping the holiday to go on a cruise, their friends instantly acted like a major crime was being committed. What their friends failed to realize was that Nora and Luther were spending their first Christmas without their daughter. It was going to be hard to celebrate without her with them. Not everyone celebrates Christmas and that is okay.

What are your favorite Christmas films and lessons they teach? Let me know in the comments below!

Christmas Gift Guide2

Merry Blogmas, loves!

Out of all of the shopping apps on my phone, Etsy is my favorite.  I love being able to look at small businesses and unique shops while being in the comfort of my own home.  There are thousands of different products to look at and you can look at the shop’s customer reviews, find other similar products, ask the seller questions, and have a great shopping experience.  From candles to hand bags, there is something for everybody on your Christmas shopping list.  Here is a round up of some of my favorite products for your holiday shopping guide!

Quick disclaimer: I have not been paid to promote any of the products or brands sponsored.  I simply love Etsy and the shops mentioned and I want to share them with you!

Fashion & Accessories

I love patches and pins! All you need is a plain jean jacket that you want to give some pizazz and you have a brand new jacket! I have so many patches saved to my wish list on Etsy that it is close to being categorized as an obsession.

Photo owned by aweedmark

This “Happy Camper” pin from aweedmark is one of my favorites! They have a lot of pins and patches in retro designs for your nature lover.  They have “Save the Bees” stickers, cool bumper stickers, and wooden gifts that are affordable for your shopping.  Aweedmark is owned by Amanda Weedmark and based in Canada, but they have international shipping. How cool is that! And if it couldn’t get any better, aweedmark has 119 reviews and a total rating of 5 golden stars!

IronpatchTH is a really neat patch shop that is based in Bangkok and they sell really awesome patches! You can find patches for sports teams, college teams, and other items, but I am in love with their sunflower patch.

Photo owned by VictoriaKristine

The world needs a little more kindness and niceness so express that with a patch! VictoriaKristine sells patches, pins, and t-shirts on Etsy and there are so many different things to look at! The “Be Nice” patch is simple and very cute and only $6! VictoriaKristine is based in the US, so if you are a fellow American, you can feel great because you are buying from a US shop!

Crystals have come on trend in the past year, both for healing and decor, and I have to admit that I am with that trend! I love all things crystals and I adore the purple amethyst quartz pin from notmagicshop.  This shop also has other pins that look like crystals, so if someone you know would like something like this, go check out their shop!

Photo owned by AnnieLesperance

For someone you loves minimalistic accessories, take a peek at this lovely hair clip from AnnieLesperance! It’s simple yet elegant style will bring a smile to your gift recipient! AnnieLesperance also sells golden bee earrings and other fashion accessories at good prices that won’t break the bank!

Photo owned by TinyLumber

A really awesome shop that I just recently came across is tinylumber.  One of my favorite products from them is the Tiny Lumber wood stud earrings.  They are hypoallergenic and there are great reviews for them! The earrings are $15 but for these earrings, I would pay that price! They have a titanium stud and the rounds are made from bamboo wood and painted with acrylic paint.  There are a lot of different styles of the bamboo earrings, so look around the shop on Etsy!

Photos owned by MaBrownMercantile

For $40, getting a small crossbody bag that monogrammed is amazing! MaBrownMercantile sells gorgeous bags for decent prices and they will make any fashonista happy.  The bags are made from faux leather and you can have you pick of colored thread.

Photos owned by FreshRagsCincy

For your movie buff, take a look at this shirt! I am obsessed with Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and when I saw this shirt, I might have shrieked a little bit.  You can buy your “Save Ferris” shirt in multiple different shades from FreshRagsCincy, a shop based in (you guessed it!) Cincinnati! They also have a Burt Macklin FBI shirt from Parks and Recreation!

Home & Office

I love candles! If you hand me a candle that is sandalwood or cologne scented, I will run off in search of a candle or lighter.  If you take me to Bath and Body Works, I am going to go sniff the Black Tie candle and wish there was a hunky man next to me that I could hug and never let go.  Basically, I love woodsy and musky candles.

20171207_213615488616100.png
Photo owned by BrandIron

BrandIron in Vancouver sells non GMO wax candles that are amazing and Insta-perfect.  Oak & Moss is a candle that has “notes of earthy green moss balanced with subtle notes of soft woods.” How great does that sound? For $20, you get a 9 oz. candle with a 40 hour burn time.  Just imagine how great your house (or rather, the gift recipient’s house) will smell!

Photos owned by EWARTWOODS

If you have someone in your life who is always carrying around a memory stick or who simply wants to keep photos with them but doesn’t have storage, check out this really cool USB memory drive that is made out of wood! The memory drive is encased in a regular sized case and you can choose which type of wood you want the case to be made out of.  EWARTWOODS, the shop that makes these, is based in Latvia, which I think is really cool! I love the way these look and they will make a great gift for the techno-wiz in your family!

Photo owned by PuffyWoolDecor

Chunky knit blankets have seemed to pop up as of late and I see them everywhere on Instagram.  Everyone has a really neat knit blanket that is its own fashion.  PuffyWoolDecor has a lot of different colors to choose from and the blankets look insanely soft! A note on this shop, though: they only ship to select countries, so if you order from them, make sure they ship to your country! If they don’t, there are a lot of other amazing shops on Etsy that sell the blankets!

I love home decor and simple signs can make any space look chic.  Wire wall art, especially in gold or rose gold, is very elegant but easy to make if you are a crafty person.  If you are like me, it is easier to buy one than make one because you weren’t terribly gifted in the arts department! MCWonderland from Italy makes a lot of wire crafts and signs that will spruce up your space effortlessly.  This cute “Hello” sign is affordable and your gift recipient will love it.

20171207_213807496666733.png
Photo owned by RedwoodStoneworks

Last in home decor is something that I want to buy immediately and will cherish forever.  RedwoodStoneworks out of California makes Rocket and Groot planters! Rocket and Groot are two of my favorite characters from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and I want these planters in my home pronto! You can buy the planters individually or as a duo! RedwoodStoneworks has a lot of cool planters in Star Wars, Disney, and Harry Potter designs, as well as a lot more! Everything is so affordable and your giftee will love their present. If you want to add a little something more to the gift, go to your local home improvement or garden store and pick up a baby succulent!

That is all for this Christmas Gift Guide!  I send out updates on my Instagram and Twitter accounts so go hit the follow buttons!

I will see you next week with a special collaboration with Phy!

Blogmas | Day 2

Merry Blogmas, loves!

Today’s Blogmas post is one that I have quite been looking forward to and I am excited to share with you because I am hoping it might become a new chapter for Glitz & Glitter in the new year.

My faith isn’t something I have really ever discussed on here and it might be because I really doubt myself a lot of the time when it comes to how strong I am in my faith.  I definitely have moments when I know that I am unworthy of my Saviors love and salvation and there are moments when I think my faith isn’t even as big as a mustard seed. I’ve had prayers go unanswered, or maybe they were just answered with a “not now, Mimi; there is better coming.” I have doubted and I have had my struggles, but at the end of the day, my heart is Jesus’s and He is my salvation. Even when I am at my lowest point, I know He is before me and He is making the way.

Another reason I don’t post much about my faith is because I am rather afraid of backlash I might get.  I want to keep Glitz & Glitter a positive place and I know that I might get hate for being a Christian.  I know that I shouldn’t be afraid of what others think because I know who I am but I do prefer to avoid issues.  So I’m really hoping this goes well and that it can be a small chapter of the Glitz & Glitter in the new year.  At the end of the day, I am not trying to force my beliefs on anyone.  I just want to share a big part of my life with you guys and I like staying honest with you.

I’m losing track of myself again. Back to what I was saying. This post is hopefully a new chapter. I would like to start sharing more of my faith and things related to that in the coming year. Maybe I can use Glitz & Glitter as an outreach of sorts. This post is a round up of my favorite Bible verses that are Christmassy and always remind me of the joy of this season.

Luke 2:14

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

I remember a plastic nativity we had while I was growing up. It had a button and would play a reading of verses and then have some music at the end. Luke 2:14 is one that was included and for some reason always stood out to me.

John 10:27-28
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me.

This verse doesn’t necessarily scream Christmas but it definitely comes in handy with the new year approaching. I pray that I am going on the right path and that I will glorify God in my works, but there are days when I am so unsure of everything I am doing. There are days when I don’t think I hear God or that my ears have turned away from His call. To be honest, I am envious of others when they talk about how they converse daily with God and hear Him as plain as day. I am envious because that has never happened to me and I think that is where my biggest reason for lack of faith comes in. This verse helps fr my bad days.

Romans 15:13

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that You may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

This is my prayer for the upcoming year. I hope that I learn to trust in God more and believe that He has only the best in store for me. Yes, I will have trials that I must face, but I know that I already have the victory. With God, all things are possible. There’s not footnote attached to that in tiny print that follows with *only some things*. Not some things, but all things. I hope that I become so in love with God that I become a beam of pure joy and happiness, and that others can see my joy is in Him and I can set a good example for others.

James 1:17

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights…” I have no words. Even though I know that I am not worthy of salvation or the love that my Father has for me, He still loves me and He calls me His child. The greatest gift of all that I have and that I will ever have is the love of God. No matter what, that is the greatest gift.

Luke 2:11

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

This is probably one of the most well known Bible verses during the Christmas season and I truly love it. It is the beginning to an incredible story.

I know that was only a small handful of verses and I apologize that there aren’t more. I’m trying to make Blogmas posts that aren’t too dreary and drone on for a long while. Having shorter posts also means I can edit them in a shorter period of time and it means more time to write. This is also my first year of Blogmas so I’m learning as I go!

Merry Christmas, loves! Cheers!

Blogmas | Day 1

Blogmas - Day 1

Welcome to the very first annual Blogmas on Glitz and Glitter! As I am typing, it is December 1st very early in the morning and I’m trying to ignore my allergies which are keeping me awake. But it is officially the first of December and honestly, I didn’t even know what day it was until a moment or two ago when I was on Twitter and saw a bunch of posts about it.  So I looked at my calendar and was instantly hit with worry and slight dread that I hadn’t purchased any gifts yet, sent out cards (even though we have just started the Merry Month), and a feeling of inadequacy.

This year, like most other years, I am on a budget for shopping.  I won’t be able to purchase everything I want for my family and friends and I do feel slight shame for that.  But then I took a step back and realized that I had forgot the meaning of Christmas altogether.  Did the 3 wise men try to out-do each other by trying to give the best give to Jesus? No, they didn’t.  The entire being of Christmas isn’t to see if Aunt Ida can out-gift Aunt Lilian or to see which person can win over the family with presents.  With this holiday should come love, joy, a sense of renewal, and all of the hope that comes in a new year.  This time should be spent in the company of those you cherish and love.  In the end, who truly cares if they received a physical gift at all? Growing up, I have been taught that people value more than objects, that good company is a gift.  Just because I am unable to purchase something for my sister or mother that I know they would love, doesn’t make me inadequate or a bad person.  And if you are in the same boat, you aren’t a bad person either.  Christmas has become a competition of flashy gifts and bedazzled things.  Would it be so horrible to receive an orange in a Christmas stocking? I quite like oranges.

Maybe it is just me, but I have found Christmas to be turned commercial.  I hardly see ads anymore about the true joy of Christmas. It is always about someone buying something for someone at such a great deal or buying your child a fancy toy that they will grow out of next year.  Maybe I feel this way because of the way I was raised and the values that I have.  I miss the broth commercial where the turkey and veggies went running down the grocery aisle.  It gets me every time! The Hershey’s commercial where the kisses are ringing? Fabulous! I love that commercial every year.  Ads that treat Christmas like a buying extravaganza and an opportunity for big brands to make bank “in the spirit of Christmas”? I’ll take a pass on that.

I suppose this might not be the merriest way to start Blogmas, but I want this to be seen as a reflection for when you are in the middle of a crowd of people in a store and trying to figure out which shade someone would prefer for something or another.  Giving is great but don’t get caught up in buying and go into holiday debt.  There is so much more to Christmas than placing a wrapped box under a tree.  Your family and friends love you and they shouldn’t care what you get them.  Your company and ability to share the joy of the season is what matters to them.  So take a deep breath and turn on your favorite Christmas tunes.  We will survive this Christmas.

This Christmas, spend time with your loved ones and embrace all of the snow flakes that kiss your cheeks, the first inhale of hot cocoa steam, and the best holiday movies.

I promise there will be happier and brighter Blogmas posts coming up very soon! This post is a product of my late night self and probably allergy medication.

Merry Christmas, everyone. Cheers!

Macramé & Mimosas Event

Hello, lovelies!

Today’s post is one that I am very excited to share! Earlier this month, I went to a blogger event in Tulsa with my friend Tiffany and we had such a great time! The Macramé and Mimosas event was hosted at the Retro Den in Tulsa and we were taught how to create a gorgeous macramé planter by Natasha from House Sparrow Fine Nesting.

HSFNworkshop-1117-0004
photo courtesy of Abbey Wells (@abbeywellsphoto)

We each made a cute macramé planter and made it home to succulent plant.  There were mimosas, churros, and lots of coffee to go around.  Ashley and Ashley, owners of the Retro Den, made everyone feel like they were at home and they had everything we could possibly need at the event.  Their store has a lot of amazing couches, planters, glassware, prints, and so much more! If you are ever in Tulsa on Harvard street, make sure to stop by and tell them that Mimi from Glitz and Glitter sent you! I had a hard time not buying everything in their store, especially the retro couches and pillows! You could turn your home into your modern Pinterest dreams with all of the furniture and artwork they have!

Tiffany and I (photo above!) made a day out of it and went to Utica Square while we were in the area: Starbucks and sitting outside on the patio.  Tulsa is such a historic city and there are a lot of cool digs if you know where to find them! Utica Square, Cherry Street, and Downtown are just a few of my favorite spots!

We met a few new bloggers and the setting was so relaxing and chilled out.

Macramé is an art, one that is well worth the time and effort! Natasha has a shop on Etsy and she has really amazing patterns for sale so you can make your own macramé creations!

The Retro Den hosts  really cool events so make sure to go follow them on their accounts so you can stay updated on all of their events!

Liebster Award pt. 2

liebster2

Hi, loves!

Yesterday I got a notification that I was nominated for the Liebster Award again! I have been nominated a few times and I want to apologize if you nominated me and I never got back to you or thanked you for the nomination.  I am truly awful at responding to tweets and things, so I sincerely apologize!

The blogger who nominated me is Ashley from It’s Ashley Marie (her links will be below!).  Thank you so much, Ashley! You are a sweetie!

So to complete this nomination, you are supposed to give 10 facts about yourself and answer the 6 interview questions (the questions that I answer, you will answer if you accept the nomination!).  I hope that makes sense!

10 Facts About Me

  1. I think I am a weird mix of extrovert and introvert.  There are some cases where I am a very exuberant and out-going person, but then there are other times when I want to hide behind a curtain and never be seen by anyone.
  2. I don’t know what my Meyers-Briggs personality! I know everyone is always saying “Oh, yeah I am totally an INTJ.” but I have no idea what that stands for! Honestly, I say “integer” in my head when I see that..it makes no sense, I know.  So let’s find out what group I am in, shall we? (about a 5 minute time lapse..) Okay, never mind.  It costs about $45 to take the official test and I don’t care that much to pay for it.
  3. I am going to be majoring in fashion marketing next year!
  4. My favorite nail design is the ever classic French manicure! There’s just something about that perfectly drawn white nail tip that is so fetching!
  5. I’m currently working on writing a script for a play…we’ll see how that goes.
  6. I’m pretty old school when it comes to dating.  I want to get to know the person as a friend before I consider dating them and when I do date someone, it is because I can see a possible future with them.  Is that old school?
  7. I think men are 100% more attractive when they wear a tantalizing cologne! Woodsy amber scents are my favorite!
  8. I love camping and hiking! A few of the places I want to camp or hike are the Ozarks, the Smokey Mountains, and Colorado.  You bring the organic snacks (yes, organic tastes better!), I’ll bring the tent and camping bags!
  9. I would really like to own a cabin somewhere in the woods where there are pine trees for miles! It has to have a nice deck where I can sit and have my morning coffee or tea while I enjoy the fresh air.  I basically want to buy a cabin in Ruidoso, New Mexico! If you are ever looking for a great place to vacation and have a good chance at seeing elk, go to Ruidoso!
  10. I own one painting! I bought it for under $5 at a small sale and got it framed.  I don’t know why I love it so much, but it is the first piece of art that I purchased, so it holds a place in my heart! The artist is a woman named Elizabeth McHugh and I haven’t been able to find any other information about her, but, Elizabeth, I love your art.

A Short Interview.png

  1. What is one place you haven’t been that is on the top of your bucket list?
Definitely the UK! I want to see all of it! There are so many beautiful places that I have seen on Instagram from the UK and I want to go see them in person!
  2. What is the most daring experience you have had?
I just recently went to an amusement park in OKC and there was a roller coaster that did a circle loop and you would be upside down when you went in that loop.  I was so terrified of falling to my death! It was so much fun though, so I ended up going on it another 3 or 4 times! The other experience was last year at the Tulsa State Fair and they had a ride that goes up in the air and stops, then unexpectedly drops to the ground! My bum rose out of my seat and I knew it was the end.  But the straps and bar held me in, so I am here to tell you how I almost died and flew straight into heaven!
  3. What is your greatest accomplishment?
Goodness! I can’t quite say.  Getting accepted into my choice for uni definitely is up there.  I’m happy I was accepted because I only had one definite backup where I was already enrolled!
  4.   What is your biggest fear?
I honestly have so many that it is hard to list all of them! I fear the lack of love and happiness, that everyone secretly hates me, and that I am never going to be successful in anything I want to do.  And suffocation..I fear suffocation greatly.
  5. What’s a hidden talent you have?
I can do a weird thing with my eyes when I look up and they look funny.  I call it Gecko Eyes.  One ends up farther apart than the other one.  It’s quite strange!
  6. What’s an activity, craft, or sport that you want to learn to do?
I would love to know how to sing properly! I love singing but if it comes to more than just jamming out in my car in the mornings while I am driving to uni, then all bets are off! I don’t tend to sing in front of others because I value their ability to hear!

Here are my nominees for the Liebster Award!

You guys don’t have to do the post if you don’t want to! It is a fun post and helps readers get to know you, so I personally love these posts!

I hope you all have a great Sunday and the rest of the week! I’m off to my first blogger event today and I am going to take lots of photos and have a blog post about it next week!

Lots of love and hugs!

Jamberry Nail Wraps from Laila | review

Jamberry nail wraps banner

Hi, babes! Welcome back to Glitz & Glitter, the best little place on the internet.  Here at Glitz & Glitter, we (and by “we”, I mean me, myself, and I) stand for happiness, uniqueness, and all things lovely.  If you want to be a part of the Glitz & Glitter Tribe, hit that follow button and you are automatically a part of the tribe!

Today’s review should have been up a while ago, but Blogtober called and then things in my life blew up, so the schedule was thrown out of whack.  A while back, a lovely gal named Laila sent me two sample packs of Jamberry nail wraps to try out and review and I can’t wait to tell you about them.  You have probably seen nail wraps before (they are also called nail stickers) in your local shop, but if you haven’t here is a picture of them!

Nail wraps are nail stickers that apply to your nail and seal with heat (I used my hair dryer).  They last for a while and they don’t chip like nail polish does! There is no drying time spent worrying about accidentally denting a nail and redoing anything; just apply, heat, press, and voila! I heated the wraps multiple times while they were on my nails and while I shaped them so I would get the best seal I could.  I did have problems with the wraps lifting, but that was my own fault.  I am a novice at applying the wraps so they definitely weren’t perfect.  There were creases at the sides and I picked at them throughout the week (I know: BAD. Piece of advice: don’t pick at them, no matter how tempting it is!) so that did factor into the short wear time.

The nail wraps are great and I still have some left over! The next time I use them, I am certainly going to have a nail station with everything prepared in front of me so I won’t be scrambling for anything!

I stupidly forgot to take photos of when I wore the wraps, so I don’t have a picture of me wearing them.   I do plan on trying the nail wraps again and hopefully perfecting them, so when I do, I’ll be adding the images on this post!

Thank you so much, Laila, for sending me the nail wraps and for being so understanding about my late posting! I truly appreciate it from the bottom of my heart!

Laila’s links will be down below, so make sure to check them out!

I hope you have a fabulous week and don’t forget to smile and listen to amazing music!

Maple Holistics Conditioner Review

maple holistics banner

Hello, babes!

Welcome back to Glitz & Glitter!

Today’s post is a review of a product that was sent to me by Maple Holistics. You may have heard of them from Marielli (thelatinabeautyfix), a friend of mine who has an amazing blog! She has reviewed some of their products before and I am happy that I get to review one of their products for you guys!

I was sent the Hair Superfood Thickening Conditioner to test out a month or so ago, but due to the backup of blog posts and some crazy things in my personal life, I am just now getting to post this.

Let’s start off with a bit of factoids about the conditioner!

  • It is a thickening conditioner, so it is meant for thinning hair. Granted, I don’t have a problem with thinning hair, as my hair is quite thick naturally, but I still wanted to give this product a try!
  • It has a special tingling effect from the menthol and tea tree oil that are in the product. There are a lot of natural ingredients in this conditioner and I love the tingle!
  • It has Volumizing and Oil Therapy.

The conditioner is great and I really think it will be a great product for you if your hair is starting to thin out a bit and you want to get the volume back into your hair. Again, my hair is very thick, so I really can’t tell you if it made my hair thicker or not. My hair did seem to have a bit of volume to it, though, so that is a plus! The tingle is also great, especially since I used the conditioner with my Paul Mitchell Tea Tree shampoo! Double the tingly clean effect!

I couldn’t find an exact price for the conditioner because I couldn’t find it on the website, but the conditioners on their website retail for around $12. If you are looking for a more natural conditioner that also combats thinning hair, I would suggest you give this a try!

Thank you to Maple Holistics for sending me this product!

I hope you guys have an absolutely fabulous week and don’t forget to smile!
