I don’t know about you, but I love finding new influencers with amazing content and sometimes I just want to give them the recognition that they deserve! I’m coming at you with a list of amazing women that you should follow!
Jessica Kelley @therealmrskelley
Not only is Jessica a body positive role model in my life, but she is a positively fearless and confident woman who is unapologetically herself. I can’t tell you how much of a difference it makes to have someone on your feed who is showing that they love themself. I used to hate what I saw in the mirror and I have slowly started to change my view on myself. If I could copy anyone’s style, it would be hers! Jessica also has a lot of cool content on plants, DIYs, and makeup, so check her out on Instagram and give her a follow!
Bekah Martinez @whats_ur_sign
Bekah is another strong woman who shows the world that women are a force to be reckoned with! I first saw Bekah when she was on The Bachelor and she was instantly my favorite! There’s something about her spirit that is so calming and peaceful and I love the presence she has. She recently gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and watching her entire pregnancy journey was stunning. Bekah has such a positive attitude and all of the products that she endorses are from good brands that I always end up loving. Another fun fact? She and her friend Jess have a really cool podcast called Chatty Broads!
Malori Clark @malorisclark & A Walk Through My Closet
Y’all, I have known Mal for a while now and her sassy spirit and good heart are infectious. She was one of my first blogging friends and it is such a joy to see her grow and get the audience she deserves! It’s so exciting to see a friend get more features and recognition and Malori deserves it! I love her content and fashion style and I love trying to recreate her outfits with items I have in my closet. If you want to follow someone with great style, go follow Mal on Instagram and read her blog A Walk Through My Closet!
These three ladies are some of my favorite influencers and I hope you check them out! Who is your favorite influencer? Let me know in the comments below!
Welcome back to part 2 of the Glitz & Glitter Spotlight! This is another list of blogs I am loving at the moment and I truly think you should support these bloggers! I have a few more installments coming after this, so be ready for more amazing blogs!
Maud is the lovely owner and creator of My Passion Projects, a blog where you can find so many resources on writing, self-help, exploration, and personal development. The layout of My Passion Projects is so clean and feminine, which is something I love! Maud has really put so much heart into My Passion Projects and I know you are going to love it as much as I do. There are also freebies and tips, so you have no reason to not check out Maud’s site! The link is in the blog title! (*wink*) Two of my favorites on MPP are the Starters Guide To Living Healthy and 10 Highly Inspirational TED Talks.
Melina, what a darling! Her blog I’ve Found Waldo is so chic and I love all of the bullet journal posts she has. I really admire people who keep bullet journals because that stuff takes commitment. Melina is an overall fun person and I love her social media feeds. Two of my favorite posts on I’ve Found Waldo are 2018 Bullet Journal Set Up and 2018 Skincare Routine .
Sofia’s blog Born To Be Bright is everything I love in the blogging world. Her site layout, the themes, and the vibes from BTBB are stellar and I love how you can see all the though she puts into her blog. I also really like supporting bloggers who have been around for a bit and Sofia started blogging back in 2013. One of my faves on Born To Be Bright is Stay Moisturized This Winter because heavens know I need it!
So I know what you are thinking: “Mimi, what’s Beauty Folio?” Well, since you asked, Beauty Folio is the gorgeous creation from Emma, natural beauty lover. Her blog is beautiful and I love her posts on Glossier, beauty boxes, and product reviews. I always love reading about natural beauty products or ethically made products because if there are good products to replace some of the brands I currently use, I am all for it. Make sure to connect with Emma on her Twitter and gorgeous Instagram feed!
I love book bloggers and YouTubers because they have such a fun blogging category. They can get lost in a book and then have an outlet where they can tell everyone their thoughts. Plus by reading a book blog post on a book that I may want to read, I can get a better insight on the book itself and determine if I still want to read it or not. Raylynn at The Thrifting Ginger does just that and her blog is so enjoyable to read. I particularly love her post on Dancing for Degas. She also loves thrifting (if you couldn’t tell by the title!).
Animals, books, mental health, and home…sounds like a great blog, right? The answer is yes, yes it is. Homebird Hang-Ups is a blog that has all of that and more in one place. Claire is a great person and I love seeing her journey through blogging. Two of my favorite posts on Homebird Hang-Ups are You OK Hun and St. Lucia Likes, Loves, and Loathes. You can also find Claire on Instagram (trust me, you’ll want to follow her feed!)!
That’s all of the blogs and bloggers mentioned in this part of the Glitz and Glitter Spotlight! The third part will be out soon and I can’t wait for you to see the other blogs!
I hope you all have a great week and a fabulous weekend!
I know it has been a while, or at least it seems like it to me. I’m trying to schedule two posts per week while I have the Glitz & Glitter Spotlight series running, so it would be one regular post and one GGS post. Today’s post is a regular one, as I am sure you can tell from the title!
Taiwo @ Stuffed Shelves nominated me for the Mystery Blogger Award and I am so thankful to her! I had hit a mini roadblock when it came to inspiration so hopefully this will kick me back into gear!

If you haven’t heard of the Mystery Blogger Award, it is a special blogging award created by Okoto Enigma a few years ago and has been gracing the internet since then. The Mystery Blogger Award is another way to spread extra positivity on the www and make someone’s day!
Three things about me (you might already know all of them from previous posts)….hmm..
I love music from the 70s and 80s- can’t get enough of it! If you catch me listening to music, it’s probably Fleetwood Mac, Hall and Oates, or Jim Croce. I can’t go a day without music and I carry 2 pairs of headphones with me at all times.
I have a weird obsession with watching World’s Strictest Parents, Wife Swap, and My Strange Addiction. I find them fascinating and I always watch them before bed. Most of the time, my watch history is full of those videos. And TED talks!
I’m trying to get back into artistic things, like water color painting again and sketching. A few months ago, I went out and bought painting supplies and I’m slowly getting back into it. I personally think I am awful, but I am trying not to get discouraged!
Taiwo has 5 questions for her nominees and I am answering them below!
What is the best thing that has happened to you? Gosh, I’m not sure! I think being accepted into college and knowing that I was in the next step to a great career was one of the best things that has happened so far.
What do you do apart from blogging? Apart from blogging, most of my life revolves around schoolwork. I am about to graduate into university life and I am technically already there, as I have 2 classes on campus already. I’m working on Film Appreciation and Freshman Composition II so I can get those classes out of the way before I am a full time college student.
What’s your best season? Hmm…summer or fall. I love the fall time because I adore sweaters, scarves, boots, and so many other fashion things that beautifully blend with fall.
What does your dream life look like? Okay, so this might be so basic but I truly would love to find myself happily married and with kids. In that life, I would love to blog full time or have a separate career and then blog part time. I want to live in a comfortable house where there is plenty of space inside and out that is near nature and open spaces. I really want kids, though. I can see myself with a house of ginger babies and I can teach them and take them to so many museums and raise little intellectuals!
If you could be an animal, which would you be? This is a difficult question! I do love mountain lions, also called cougars. They are so sleek and dangerous! Something about them is exciting but scary at the same time.
So that is all about me! It is time for nominations and I am tagging the bloggers here and via Twitter instead of commenting on their blogs. There are certain blogs where I am unable to comment on their websites, so that is why I am letting them know on there.
I am sure you have seen blog posts like this on other sites, but I am happy to finally be spreading some love and spotlight some blogs that I am really enjoying at the moment and I think you should follow.
Briana encourages her readers to live a healthy life and she has so many great articles on food, lifestyle, and spirituality. She created CHV to encourage people to go back to the basics and shows just how easy it is to live a healthy lifestyle that is fulfilling, productive, and overall filled to the brim with positivity. Briana is one of my favorite bloggers and I always enjoy reading her blog posts. When I get an email update in the morning, I’ll typically open it and read the post first thing when I get up. A touch of positivity at the start of the day is always a good idea! Two lovely reads on Curly Hair Vegan that I had a splendid time reading are about oil pulling and the benefits when adding it into your routine and how to make scrumptious Buddha bowls.
You have probably seen her pins floating around Pinterest in the most fashionable ways or looking great on Instagram while spreading such a great message, but if you haven’t, Brighton Keller is an incredible blogger who uses her platform for only good and positive. Her outreach is rather large and her Instagram stories really speak to her followers and they can relate to them. I love Brighton The Day because it is the one place I can go when I need a good bit of fashion advice, yummy recipes, a boost in my faith, or just a good laugh. Brighton is the kind of person who makes you feel like you have been friends for a long time and I love that about her. Two of my favorite posts on BTD are a list of Brighton’s fave Christian Podcasts and It’s Okay To Not Be Okay.
Jennifer Lynn and I have been following each other on Twitter for a bit and we sometimes run into each other in the same circles, which is so fabulous because I love seeing fellow blogging ladies furthering their careers and interests. So what is her blog? Elegant Living Everyday. No, not just on date night or ladies night, but every single day. She takes you through a life’s journey to live beautifully all the time and always keeps things as real as can be. Jennifer’s blog will help restore elegance in your life and I love it. Two of my favorite posts are How To Begin Your Journey and What Does It Mean To Live an Elegant Life. Both will be great to help kickstart your elegant journey!
Mariam is a brilliant blogger and I am so in love with her blog! Tea and Maz focuses on mental health, lifestyle, inspiration, and books, all of which are part of living a wonderful and full life. Her website is absolutely beautiful and you also must follow her on Instagram! Mariam is a beautiful human being and I know you are going to love her as much as I do! Two of my favorite posts on her blog are 23 Things I’ve Learnt In 23 Years and her post on Daniel Wellington Watches (I love a good watch!)
Lily is a beautiful soul who I originally met on Twitter, probably while going through a blogger chat or follow group. She is such a great person and I adore her. Her blog, Learning Lily, is all about travel, lifestyle, and fashion, 3 of my favorite things! Lily’s blog is absolutely stunning and I can’t wait to see more of her accomplishments in the coming year. Two of my faves are In What Ways Is Instaram Affecting Us and Reflecting on 2017. Check out her posts and leave her a comment!
Abbie is the mastermind behind The Pink Paperdoll where all things lifestyle meet unique vintage and eco-friendly natural living. Her dog Perry makes occasional appearances and he is the cutest lil bean! I do love the overall feel of The Pink Paperdoll and it is such a cute blog. You can really tell Abbie has put time and hard work into everything she does. Good job, queen! Two of my favorite posts on PP are In Praise of Old Books and 4 Unique Places To See In South Dakota.
You may have seen on Twitter this past Monday that I asked for blogs to have in this post. I asked this for a few reasons. One, there are so many blogs out there that have yet to have exposure or views even if they are amazing, so I was hoping to get smaller blogs more views and deserved exposure. Second, because there are so many blogs out there, it can be hard to come across certain blogs and while some of these blogs have a bigger reach and follower base, that doesn’t mean they aren’t amazing. I also wanted to find more blogs that I would love and want in the Glitz and Glitter Spotlight!
To bloggers who responded to my tweet and your blog wasn’t featured in this post or the next ones, I apologize. Your blog is amazing and because I got such an overwhelming response, I am not able to have decent sized posts that don’t go too long, even with a second part coming next week. However, I do think all of the blogs are great and for those blogs who didn’t make the Spotlight, I am going to quote retweet the links you sent me and say what I liked about your blog.
I received and read through 77 blogs in one day and when I started out, I only expected to get 5 or so, if that. Seeing all of those blogs was incredible. There were book bloggers, lifestyle, beauty, fashion bloggers, mental health bloggers, and everything under the sun. You all expanded my views and touched my heart with some of your stories. You each deserve your own separate blog posts because you are so unique.
If you liked this post and can’t wait to see the next installment in the Glitz and Glitter Spotlight series, I would truly appreciate it if you shared this post. Not only will it help Glitz and Glitter, but it will help the bloggers featured.
Who is one of your favorite bloggers? Let me know in the comments!
I hope you have an absolutely fabulous Friday and a great weekend. I’ll keep you all updated as to when part two will be up next week, so make sure to follow me on Twitter to stay in the loop!
Yesterday I got a notification that I was nominated for the Liebster Award again! I have been nominated a few times and I want to apologize if you nominated me and I never got back to you or thanked you for the nomination. I am truly awful at responding to tweets and things, so I sincerely apologize!
The blogger who nominated me is Ashley from It’s Ashley Marie (her links will be below!). Thank you so much, Ashley! You are a sweetie!
So to complete this nomination, you are supposed to give 10 facts about yourself and answer the 6 interview questions (the questions that I answer, you will answer if you accept the nomination!). I hope that makes sense!
I think I am a weird mix of extrovert and introvert. There are some cases where I am a very exuberant and out-going person, but then there are other times when I want to hide behind a curtain and never be seen by anyone.
I don’t know what my Meyers-Briggs personality! I know everyone is always saying “Oh, yeah I am totally an INTJ.” but I have no idea what that stands for! Honestly, I say “integer” in my head when I see that..it makes no sense, I know. So let’s find out what group I am in, shall we? (about a 5 minute time lapse..) Okay, never mind. It costs about $45 to take the official test and I don’t care that much to pay for it.
I am going to be majoring in fashion marketing next year!
My favorite nail design is the ever classic French manicure! There’s just something about that perfectly drawn white nail tip that is so fetching!
I’m currently working on writing a script for a play…we’ll see how that goes.
I’m pretty old school when it comes to dating. I want to get to know the person as a friend before I consider dating them and when I do date someone, it is because I can see a possible future with them. Is that old school?
I think men are 100% more attractive when they wear a tantalizing cologne! Woodsy amber scents are my favorite!
I love camping and hiking! A few of the places I want to camp or hike are the Ozarks, the Smokey Mountains, and Colorado. You bring the organic snacks (yes, organic tastes better!), I’ll bring the tent and camping bags!
I would really like to own a cabin somewhere in the woods where there are pine trees for miles! It has to have a nice deck where I can sit and have my morning coffee or tea while I enjoy the fresh air. I basically want to buy a cabin in Ruidoso, New Mexico! If you are ever looking for a great place to vacation and have a good chance at seeing elk, go to Ruidoso!
I own one painting! I bought it for under $5 at a small sale and got it framed. I don’t know why I love it so much, but it is the first piece of art that I purchased, so it holds a place in my heart! The artist is a woman named Elizabeth McHugh and I haven’t been able to find any other information about her, but, Elizabeth, I love your art.
What is one place you haven’t been that is on the top of your bucket list? Definitely the UK! I want to see all of it! There are so many beautiful places that I have seen on Instagram from the UK and I want to go see them in person!
What is the most daring experience you have had? I just recently went to an amusement park in OKC and there was a roller coaster that did a circle loop and you would be upside down when you went in that loop. I was so terrified of falling to my death! It was so much fun though, so I ended up going on it another 3 or 4 times! The other experience was last year at the Tulsa State Fair and they had a ride that goes up in the air and stops, then unexpectedly drops to the ground! My bum rose out of my seat and I knew it was the end. But the straps and bar held me in, so I am here to tell you how I almost died and flew straight into heaven!
What is your greatest accomplishment? Goodness! I can’t quite say. Getting accepted into my choice for uni definitely is up there. I’m happy I was accepted because I only had one definite backup where I was already enrolled!
What is your biggest fear? I honestly have so many that it is hard to list all of them! I fear the lack of love and happiness, that everyone secretly hates me, and that I am never going to be successful in anything I want to do. And suffocation..I fear suffocation greatly.
What’s a hidden talent you have? I can do a weird thing with my eyes when I look up and they look funny. I call it Gecko Eyes. One ends up farther apart than the other one. It’s quite strange!
What’s an activity, craft, or sport that you want to learn to do? I would love to know how to sing properly! I love singing but if it comes to more than just jamming out in my car in the mornings while I am driving to uni, then all bets are off! I don’t tend to sing in front of others because I value their ability to hear!
One of my favorite drugstore brands that is affordable and cruelty-free is E.L.F. (eyes, lips, face). They have a lot of wonderful products and today I am sharing my favorites with you!
There won't be any foundations, concealers, or powders because they don't carry my shade. I'm too pale for all of the lightest colors!
Just recently, I purchased the E.L.F. baked highlighter in Moonlight Pearls and all I have to say is "WOW!". The highlight is buildable, has a great glow, and is really soft on the skin. The highlighter takes a while to build up when using a brush, so when I'm in a rush, I will literally just swipe the highlighter right onto my cheekbones and blend it with my fingertips. That probably isn't a great technique, but it works in a pinch!
The E.L.F. HD Cream Blush in "Superstar" is so pigmented! (Any Mannyacs out there? 😉 ) You just need a small dot of the product and it goes a long way! I use my beauty sponge to blend it out onto the apples of my cheeks to get a natural rosy glow.
The E.L.F. Matte Lip Colors are some of my favorite lip products that I have ever purchased! They are all creamy and rich formulas with a lot of color! I have three (a red and two nude colors) of their Matte Lip Colors and I live for all three of them! My current favorite is the shade Natural, a nude pink color.
For my lips, I love the Mint Maniac exfoliator to get my lips scrubbed and fresh! Two of my favorite moisturizing lipsticks from E.L.F. are the shades Berry Black and Ravishing Rose. Both shades are darker colors and I absolutely love them. I can't wait for fall to get here so I can wear these lipsticks with scarves, leggings, and cozy sweaters! A helpful hint: on the bottom of every E.L.F. lip product that comes in a lipstick tube (this includes the exfoliators, which I just found out a moment ago!) is a lip balm! If you pop out the little clear square bottom, there is a bit of lip balm! For the lipsticks, it is the shade of your lipstick and for the exoliators, it is clear!
Another E.L.F. product that I love is the Gotta Glow Lip Tint (not pictured) in the shade Perfect Pink. The lip tint is supposed to work with your lip chemistry to get the perfect shade for you! On my lips, this product comes out as a Barbie doll hot pink, so I use this product when I want a pop of pink!
Onto the eyes and eyebrows!
The Intense Ink Eyeliner was part of my most recent E.L.F. purchase. The precision tip makes flicking out a winged liner simple and clean! If you are in need of a good eyeliner, I would give this a try!
For my brows, I use the E.L.F. gel pomade and powder duo (I use the shade Medium), the E.L.F. small angled brush, the clear brow gel and mascara duo, and a small artist brush that I have. On days where I don't feel like messing around with the gel pomade, I will simply take the small artist brush and use the powder to fill in my brows after running a spooly brush through them. I then set my brows with the clear eyebrow gel. It is an easy look that works with natural makeup or just to make your brows more noticeable for a no-makeup kind of day.
Next up: Brushes!
Some of my favorite makeup brushes are from E.L.F.! They are affordable, good quality brushes that last!
The Beautifully Bare Blending Brush is used a lot in my makeup routine, mainly for blending out contour and bronzing powders. The brush is super soft and blends out makeup beautifully (surprise, surprise!).
The two brushes I use for contour and bronzer are the E.L.F. bronzing brush and the E.L.F. Professional Fan Brush (I use it to contour my nose). The bronzing brush really carves out my cheeks and applies the contour powder evenly.
I use a lot of E.L.F. brushes when I work with eyeshadow! The flat Eyeshadow Brush works well for packing shadows onto the eyelid and it is a staple in my eyeshadow brush collection.
The small Blending Eye Brush and the Professional Eye Defining Brush are two of my favorite makeup brushes! The blending brush blends out eyeshadow seamlessly and the eye defining brush fits into the crease of the eyelid to define (I am so original) and cut your crease! Both were around $1, so if you come across these brushes, buy them!
Other small brushes from E.L.F. that I love are the Lip Defining Brush (which I have honestly never used on my lips! I use it on my eyes and it would work really well for smoking out your lower lashes!), the Concealer Brush (for highlighting eyebrows), and the Small Angled Brush (I use it for my brows).
I have used E.L.F. face primers before and in my experiences, they worked pretty well. Their foundation was also really good. I actually wore it for around a year before realizing that the shade Porcelain was, indeed, much too tan for me!
I hope you guys enjoyed my E.L.F. favorites! Like I said before, E.L.F. is a cruelty-free drugstore brand that sells affordable products and I highly recommend that you try out their brand!
There is going to be a new post on Saturday, August 12th: a review for Perfectly Posh products!
Hi there! Thank you so much for checking out my blog! I truly appreciate it and I hope you enjoy!
For the longest time, my feet were pretty rough looking because I go barefoot all the time when I am at home. I wear sandals or flip flops when I go out, so earlier this year, I looked at my heels while I was out and I didn’t like how they looked. My feet were dry and needed to be pampered. A couple of days and a few dollars later, I had a two sided foot file and I was ready to tackle my feet. On one side of the file, you had a metal grater and then on the other side was a regular file. The only problem with this was after the first time I used it, the metal side (which came off so you could empty the catch) never fit back into place after I took it off to empty out the bottom. Anytime I used it, I would have to hold on to the metal part so it would stay on. The metal grate was not easy to clean at all, so it stopped working efficiently. I stopped using the foot file and it sat abandoned in a crate of other random products in my bathroom.
A few weeks ago, I went to the store and purchased a new foot file and a foot scrub in hopes of getting nice feet again. I bought the Freeman “Bare Foot” Exfoliating Foot Scrub in the scent Peppermint and Plum (smells amazing!) and a new sugar foot file from ONYX Professional. Let me tell you, these products together are amazing! The file takes all of the dead skin away and the scrub helps soften everything up!
Here is how to get your feet into tip top shape again!
First I like to soak my feet in some warm water and body wash. My current fave is Rosé Champagne body wash from Bath and Body Works- smells so good and makes me feel refreshed and kind of feminine! Then I will take a little of the Freeman “Bare Foot” scrub and massage that all over my feet.
Second, I pat dry my feet with a clean towel and then I use the ONYX Professional sugar foot file on my heel, around the sides, the ball of my foot, and on any callouses that are on my feet. Once that is done, I take a little water to wet my feet and then go back in with the Freeman “Bare Foot” scrub to remove any dead skin particles from the foot file.
After I scrub my feet again, I’ll pat them dry and then take some lotion and rub that all over my feet and ankles. I massage and rub my feet and get some of the lotion soaked in, then I take a pair of socks and put those on for a while.
A few hours later, I will grab whatever color of nail polish I like and give my toe nails a fresh coat of polish to add a touch of color to them. Since it is summer, I like vibrant pinks and blues, periwinkle, reds, and some nude shades.
There you go! Filing and scrubbing your feet really make them feel fresh and look nice. If you wear sandals, flip flops, or open toed shoes, I recommend that you try the steps above! Your feet will thank you!
Next week’s post is going to be all about self love, confidence, and how to love your body! I am so excited to upload next week, as it is a topic that I am truly passionate about!
